Mallika Sherawat is an Indian actress and a former model. Known for her bold onscreen attitude in such films as Khwahish and Murder, Sherawat has been frequently featured in the media as a sex symbol. Mallika Sherawat is an Indian actress, who works in bollywood. She made her film debut in Jeena Sirf Merre Liye which starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tushar Kapoor in lead roles. She has won the 2008 "Renaissance Artist Award" at the 16th Annual Diversity Awards held in California. She was also seen in Hollywood films like Hisss and Politics of Love. Mallika Sherawat was born as Reema Lamba on 24 October 1976 in Hisar district of Haryana. She has done her primary education at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. She has attained a degree in Philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University. She came through many hurdles inorder to pursue her career in film industry. Before entering to films, she has done commercials with Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. On 14 August 2009, Sherawat received a career recognition Honorary Citizenship of Los Angeles for her career achievements and charitable efforts. According to the sources, Mallika Sherawat got married to a Jet Airways pilot Captain Karan Singh Gill in the year 2000. But just after one year the couple got divorced in 2001. As per the latest reports, she is dating a French businessman, Cyrille Auxenfans. They are very much in love and have been spotted together at many places. Mallika Sherawat was born to Mukesh Kumar Lamba in the family of Seth Chhaju Ram, a leading Jat philanthropist. She belongs to a Jat family. She has one brother Vikram Lamba. She uses the screen name "Mallika" and her mother's maiden name "Sherawat". Due to her career choice earlier she was away from her family. But only her mother, Santosh Sherawat gave her huge support. Mallika Sherawat has started her career with modelling and then entered into bollywood with the movie "Jeena Sirf Merre Liye". But she came into limelight with the films Khwahish and Murder. She received a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards for her performance in Murder. Similarly, she was also seen in the movie "The Myth", which was her first International film. In 2012, Mallika featured with American pop star Bruno Mars, in his parody video of "Salt-N-Pepa Whatta Man" for a comedy website. Mallika Sherawat was born into a Jatt family in Rohtak, located in the state of Haryana. Her family is of a renowned philanthropist and holds quite a reputation in the zone. Mallika took up the screen name and added her mother’s maiden surname to it, to avoid being introduced in the film world as Reema, , a name which is quite contrary to her persona and attitude. In 2007, she was seen in “Welcome” which was a huge success at the box office. In 2009, she was seen in the Hollywood Venture “Hisss” with Irfan Khan. It was a crossover film, between India and U.S.A and created ripples in the film world. In 2011, she was seen in “Politics of Love”, a romantic comedy centered on Barack Obama’s election as the President. In 2009, she was also bestowed upon the Honorary Citizenship of Los Angeles for her inexplicable work in films and also for her charitable demeanor.

In 2011, she was also seen opposite Sanjay Dutt in “Double Dhamal”. The film was a huge hit and her item number “Jalebi Bai” had everyone dancing to it.

Sherawat has always been noted as someone who is very outspoken and opinionated. She is hardworking and one of Bollywood’s most ravishing sex bombs. She will soon be seen opposite Vivek Oberoi in “Kismat Love Paisa Dilli”

Mallika Sherawat has a degree in Philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University.She was briefly married to Karan Singh Gill, a pilot for Jet Airways. The marriage ended in a divorce.

 

Sherawat was born Reema Lamba in Rohtak, Haryana to a Jat family.[6] Mallika was born in the family of Seth Chhaju Ram, a leading Jat philanthropist.She was born on October 24, though the year is unknown.

 

She adopted the screen name of "Mallika", meaning "empress", to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. Mallika Sherawat made her debut in the film Jeena Shirf Mere Liye, in 2002.

n 2009, Sherawat starred in a Hollywood film named Hisss, co-starring Irrfan Khan and directed by Jennifer Lynch. The film, based on the legend of Nāga, is an independent co-production between the United States and India.

 

Endeavour Independent has bought the distribution rights of Hisss.Sherawat promoted the film with live snakes at the Cannes Film Festival 2010.Hisss was released in all major Indian languages on 22 October 2010.

 

Sherawat starred in another Hollywood film, Politics of Love, aka Love, Barack, directed by William Dear.She plays Aretha Gupta, a devoted local Obama volunteer coordinator.

 

The film is a romantic comedy set during Barack Obama's campaign for the US Presidency. First look of Love, Barack was unveiled by Sherawat at Cannes 2010. It was released in 2011.
