Raveena Tandon is an Indian actress, producer, and a former model. She has primarily worked in Bollywood films, though she appeared in a few Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada cinemas. Raveena Tandon is an Indian actress, producer and a former model. She has mostly appeared in bollywood and also worked in regional languages like Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films. She made her acting debut with the film "Patthar Ke Phool" in 1991 and has won a Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her performance in the film. For her outstanding performance in the movie "Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence", she achieved National Film Award for Best Actress. Apart from the films, she has also turned host and was seen in many TV shows. She was last seen in a cameo role in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet. Raveena Tandon was born on 26 October, 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her name is the combination of her parents name Ravi and Veena. She did her schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu. She studied at Mithibai College, where she completed her first and second year of college. Later she got her first film offer and dropped her studies. She has appeared in the film "Mohra", which was the second biggest hit of 1994. She has adopted two girls Pooja and Chhaya in 1995 when they were 11 and 8 years old respectively. Raveena Tandon was born to the famous filmmaker Ravi Tandon and Veena. Her father was also a producer and director of some films in the 1970s and 1980s. She has one brother Rajiv Tandon, who had a small touch with bollywood. She is the cousin of the famous South Indian film actress Kiran Rathod. The tv serial actors Reshma Singh and Vishal Singh are her other cousins. She is married to Anil Thadani and has turned to Raveena Tandon Thadani. Raveena Tandon will next be seen as a judge on upcoming dance reality show "Shine of India" alongwith Govinda and ace choreographer Saroj Khan. She will reportedly get Rs.1.25 crore per episode which will make her the highest paid Bollywood actress on TV. Shine of India will be aired on Channel V and is hosted by actress Farnaz Shetty. Raveena Tandon fell in love with Anil Thadani during the making of her film Stumped in 2003. Later they were engaged in November 2003. The duo tied knot on 22 February 2004 in Jag Mandir Palace, Udaipur, Rajasthan in a Punjabi style. She gave birth to a girl Rasha on 16 March 2005 and her second child, Ranbir on 12 July 2007. Raveena Tandon will soon be seen in her next film with Onir, which is tentatively titled 'Shab'. The movie is a love triangle and also stars actor Prosenjit Chatterjee's wife Arpita and Ashish Bisht, both in their Bollywood debut role. Bollywood diva Raveena Tandon has hosted the show Simply Baatein. This was Raveena's second outing as a host after her stint in Issi Ka Naam Zindagi (NDTV Imagine). Simply Baatien With Raveena was an interactive talk show produced by GR8 Entertainment. Raveen Tandon was seen in cameo role in Bombay Velvet which was directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap. Her name Raveena is a combination of Ravi (her father's name) and her mother Veena Tandon. Her father was a Hindi film producer and director in the 1970's and 1980's. Raveena Tandon got her first film break due to her family's proximity to the Indian film industry. Her first film was Patthar Ke Phool in 1990. Her co-star was Salman Khan. The film was a hit and she got the Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her effort.

 

However she shot into fame in the film 'Mohra'. The Hindi flick catapulted her overnight to an actor to be reckoned with. However her subsequent films bombed at the box office.

 

She worked hard to make the transition to more serious roles and finally reaped the fruits of her labours with films like Shool (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Aks (2001).She won the 'Filmfare Special Performance Award for the film Aks. She finally got her due by bagging the 'National Film Award for Best Actress' for playing the role of protagonist in the critically acclaimed Hindi film 'Daman-A victim of Marital Violence'(2001).She played the role of a wife of an abusive husband.

 

She adopted two girls Pooja and Chhaya as a single mother in the 1990's. Her present personal life includes her husband Anil Thadani and her biological daughter Rasha (born March 16, 2005). Raveena's father Ravi Tandon is a Bollywood director and producer. She debuted opposite Salman Khan in Patthar Ke Phool and achieved stardom with hits such as Mohra and Andaz Apna Apna.

Raveena shifted to meaningful cinema with films such as Satta and Daman, winning a National Award for the latter. She also produced 2 films. Raveena left Bollywood after her marriage.

She was linked to a number of men, including Kamal Sadanah and Akshay Kumar. Raveena is married to film distributor Anil Thadani and has two children, Rasha and Ranbir.  She has primarily worked in Bollywood films, though she appeared in a few Tamil and Telugu language movies as well. During the 90s, she was part of several commercial successes such as Mohra (1994), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996) and Ziddi (1997), among others. She got high critical acclaim for her performances in films like Aks (2001) and Satta (2003), and had the peak of her career in 2002, when she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Kalpana Lazmi's Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001). Raveena Tandon is the daughter of Bombay film industry (Bollywood) director Ravi Tandon and her mother Veena is a home maker. Her name is an amalgamation of her parents' name.

 

Raveena dropped out of Bombay's Meethibai College to pursue a career as a model with middling success.

 

Raveena made her movie debut with the flop - Pathar Ke Phool (1991). It was only with Andaz Apna Apna (1994) that she tasted success. Mohra (1994) made her a superstar all set to become Bollywood's reigning actress.

By the end of 1995 her career was in tatters and she was reduced to the level of a starlet doing bit roles. Her career revived with a huge hit Ziddi (1997) and she now is again a top rung star.

 

She made her comeback in Bollywood with Amitabh Bachchan's Bbuddah…Hoga Tera Baap (2011) where she did an Item number.

Before getting married to Anil she had an affair with co-star Akshay Kumar.

 

She adopted two children Pooja and Chhaya as a single mother in the 1990s.

 

Tandon began dating film distributor Anil Thadani during the making of her film Stumped (2003). She married Thadani on 22 February 2004. She gave birth to a baby girl called Rasha on 16 March 2005. She gave birth to her second child, a baby boy named Ranbir on 12 July 2007. In November 2005, Tandon sued the websites, Shaadi.com and Shaaditimes.com, claiming that they were using un-authorized images of her to promote the site. She also sued the owner Satyanet Solutions, as they claimed that Tandon and her husband had met through the website. Rani often dons clothes designed by Sabyasachi Dutta. She loves to wear saris and is seen in lovely draped saris in most of the occasions. Unfortunately, her western off screen attire has not been the talk of the town. Husband Anil Thadani was married to Natasha Sippy. Natasha is the daughter of producer Romu Sippy.

Starred in the shelved Hollywood film " White Rainbow" produced by Linda and Dharan Mandrayer and Hannah Kirby. The film was about widows in India. This was in 2004.

Starred in the shelved movie " Khajuraho" directed by Aruna Raje co starring Pooja Batra. This was in 2002.

Starred in the completed and unreleased film " Ek Din Anjaane Mein" Earlier titled Shafaq. Co starring Mamooty, Rinke Khanna , Vijay Raaz. Directed by Bappaditya Roy. This was in 2001. The producer's wanted to title the film " Kaal" but the title was with Karan Johar.

Starred in Rajiv Babbar shelved film " Challenge" directed by Pankaj Prashar.Co starring Shilpa Shetty and Sushmita Sen . This was in 2001. It was to be a remake of Charlie' s Angels.

Starred in the shelved Hollywood film "Dreamcatcher"(2002) with a budget of under $1 million. Written by Alkesh Vaja and directed by Tabrez Noorani, it had a series of interconnected stories, with characters of a doctor, a starlet, some models and even a porno director (played by Gulshan Grover). Kashmira Shah (Jungle) and model Tara Sharma costar as impressionable young models, one of whom gets in trouble in the X-rated film industry. Sounded very disturbingly close to the Jag Mundhra exploitation genre. Tabrez Noorani said "I'm exploring the dark side. The truth is, for some single girls, that is the way it is here. So many people end up in that industry,".

Starred in the shelved Hollywood movie New Line Production's " Panic". (2002). It was about a NRI family that get tortured by a ghost.
