Madhoo Shah is an Indian film actress. She has acted in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. She is best remembered for her portrayals in Maniratnam's Roja, Sangeeth Sivan's Yodha and Shankar's Gentleman. Madhoo was born in the Malini household on March 26th. Her dad's name is Raghunath, who is the brother of Bollywood actress Hema Malini. Her mom's name is Renuka. She was taught Bharat Natyam by her mom. Madhoo lost her mom to Cancer when she was just 13 years old.Treating her aunt as her role model, Madhoo wanted to be an actress. After being offered a small role, she enrolled in Roshan Taneja's School of Acting for 2 months. Subsequently she learned that she had been dropped quite unceremoniously.This blow empowered her to take up jogging and swimming to lose weight; got braces for her teeth; had a hair cut; got a complete make-over, including clearing up her skin; perfected her Hindi. And then viola - a new, improved, and sexy Madhoo emerged.An Aries, Madhoo's acting career started with Ottayal Pattalam in Malyalam. She was first introduced to Bollywood in Phool Aur Kaante. Her role in 1992 Tamil movie Roja made her famous overnight, leading to the film being dubbed in multiple languages. Her other popular releases included Diljale, Yeshwant, and Pehchaan.Her career as an actress spanned from 1990 through on to 2002. She acted in a total of approximately 30 movies in Hindi, Tamil, Malyalam, Kannada, & Telegu.She was signed by Kallol Sen to act in his "Love Sex Etc", but subsequently changed her mind. She has appeared in 'Mann Main Hai Vishwas' on Sony Television.She married Anand Shah, who comes from a rich industrialist family, relocated to the U.S. where she gave birth to two daughters, Amela and Kela. Ameya has already indicated that she wants in act in movies. She made her debut in the Malayalam film "Ottayal Pattalam" opposite Mukesh, and was later introduced to Tamil by renowned Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander in movie Azhagan(1991) which starred Mammooty, Bhanupriya and Geetha. She made her Hindi movie debut with another newcomer Ajay Devgan in Phool Aur Kaante (1991). The title role in Mani Ratnam's Roja (1992) made her very popular. She is married to Anand Shah19 February 1999. She has two daughters Ameya and Kela.

Her aunt Hema Malini was her role model. Madhoo is trained in Bharatnatyam and also studied acting at the Roshan Taneja's School of Acting. She has acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada movies.

 She is married to an industrialist Anand Shah and has two daughters Ameya and Kela.Madhoo was launched in a Malayalam movie Ottayal Pattalam in 1990. In 1991, she was chosen to be part of the Tamil movie K.Balachander's Azhagan. She played Ajay Devgan's love interest in his debut Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. The movie was a big hit. 

     In 1992, the Tamil movie Mani Rathnam's Roja was released and it became one of the biggest hits ever. She is best remembered for her role as Roja, a bride whose husband is abducted by militants in Kashmir.

She acted in several movies that didn't recreate the Roja success, like Zaalim (1994), Return of the Jewel Thief (1996), Udaan (1997) and Mulaqat (2002) Madhoo will be seen in the 2009 release The Murderer that is also the debut of Mithun Chakraborthy's son Mimoh. Madhoo made her film debut with a Malayalam flick 'Ottayal Pattalam' with co-star Mukesh. Afterwards, the actress entered in Tamil movies with 'Azhagan' (1991) by K. Balachandra with eminent actors likeBhanupriya, Mammootty and Geeta.

In the world of Hindi movie industry, she stepped in with newcomer action-hero Ajay Devgn. The film was 'Phool Aur Kaante' (1991). This star with Aries sun-sign received overnight publicity after acting in the movie 'Roja' (1992). The film accomplished big success at the box-office and got translated into diverse languages. The charismatic acting performance of the cute actress was much appreciated during that time.
