Minissha Lamba is an Indian actress who appears in Hindi films. She made her debut with Yahaan. Her other notable films include Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bachna Ae Haseeno, Minissha Lamba is an Indian actress who works in Bollywood movies. She made her Bollywood debut with director Shoojit Sircar's movie Yahaan in 2005. She has also worked in notable films like Honeymoon Travels, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Well Done Abba and Bheja Fry 2. She was seen as one of the contestants in the controversial television series Bigg Boss season 8. Minissha Lamba was born on 18 January 1985 to S. Kewal Lamba and Manju Lamba in Haryana, India. She belongs to a Punjabi family. She has done her schooling at Chettinad Vidyashram School, Chennai for a year. Later, she studied English honors at Miranda House, Delhi University. She wanted to make her career in journalism, but fate has written something else for her. Minissha Lamba was offered to Model in prestigious ad campaigns like LG, Sony, Cadbury, Hajmola, Airtel, Sunsilk etc. During the ad shoot for Cadbury, she was offered by Bollywood director, Shoojit Sircar. He signed her to act in his film Yahaan. She has played pivotal roles in films such as Corporate, Rocky: The Rebel, Anthony Kaun Hai, Honeymoon Travels, Anamika, Shaurya and Dus Kahaniyaan. Minissha Lamba was also seen in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya's song Tera Surroor from the album Aap Kaa Surroor which became very popular. Minissha Lamba tied the knot to her longtime boyfriend Ryan Tham on July 6 2015. Actress Pooja Bedi, who is Ryan's cousin, was the first to break the news when she posted a tweet welcoming Minissha to the family. She tweeted,"Welcome to rhe family Minissha Lamba. Hope u and My brother Ryan have a crazy fun happy loving amazing life ahead!" Minissha Lamba shocked all her fans when her look after a nose job was revealed. She is known for her cute smile and simple looks. However, she chose to experiment with the wonders of plastic surgery and got a nose job done. According to reports, she also did silicon implants which made her look fit in Kidnap movie. The actress is reportedly dating Mukul Deora, the producer of ‘Bheja Fry’. Prior to this, she was rumored to have linkups with many others, including a businessman, a budding actor and even a young politician. From dreaming of becoming a journalist, to doing modeling and finally ending up taking acting as a profession, life has been an interesting journey for Minissha Lamba. The 5’1” actress has been in the Hindi film industry for nearly seven years and has done some notable films.  A pretty girl born to a Haryanvi Jat family, Minissha completed her schooling in Chennai. Later, she studied English honors at Miranda House, Delhi University. She wanted to pursue a career in journalism, but fate had other plans for her.

While she was studying for her degree, she started getting offers to shoot ads for popular brands like Sony, LG, Airtel, Sunsilk and Cadbury. Things were beginning to seem perfect when there was another turning point in her life! Her Cadbury ad shoot got her noticed by Bollywood director Shoojit Sircar, who signed her as the lead heroine for his film ‘Yahaan’ in 2005.

 However, she has not tasted exceptional success for her work till date. Thereafter, she was seen in a number of films like Corporate, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Dus Kahaniyaan and Bachna Ae Haseeno. She had part roles to play in these films, and none of these got noticed for her acting in particular. She also starred in Shyam Benegal’s political satire film ‘Well Done Abba’, which was a critical success but a commercial failure.

Minissha has also starred in a number of forgettable films like Kidnap, Shaurya, Anamika, Bheja Fry 2 and Hum Tum Shabana. Though the movies didn’t quite work well at the box office, they clearly show that the actress has chosen films of various genres- right from romance to comedy to satire.

Her upcoming films include one in Kannada, named ‘Kontract’. She will also be seen in Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Joker’ and Sanjay Dutt-Vivek Oberoi-Arshad Warsi starrer ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’. Minissha’s father is the general manager of the Grand Palace Hotel in Srinagar. She graduated from Miranda House Delhi in 2004 with a degree in English (Honours).Minissha never set out to become an actress.

 

Her aim was academics and she wanted to dabble in modelling as a side business. Her first break happened with Cadbury when she was selected by an audition. This happened in Delhi.

 

Later she took up a number of commercials for LG, Sony, Cadbury, Hajmola, Airtel, and SunsilkSubsequently, her first Bollywood break came with Yahaan a film, which was directed by Shoojit Sarcar.

 

Here Minissha played the lead role opposite Jimmy Shergill. Although her debut did not win her any awards, it fetched her some amount of recognition.

 

Since then she has acted in many films, which include Corporate, Rocky: The Rebel, Anthony Kaun Hai and Honeymoon Travels, Anamika, Shaurya, Dus Kahaniyaan.

 

One of her upcoming releases is an untitled Yashraj film directed by Siddharth Anand where she shares screen space with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu.

 She attended Miranda House, University of Delhi and studied English. While in college, she was offered to model for such brands as LG, Sony, Cadbury and Sunsilk.

She was then approached by Bollywood director Shoojit Sircar during an ad shoot for Cadbury to star in his 2005 film Yahaan, which she did. Her performance was well-received, receiving a Filmfare nomination for Best Female Debut.

She has since starred in a variety of movies including Rocky: The Rebel, Anthony Kaun Hai, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dus Kahaniyaan, Well Done Abba and Hum Tum Shabana, among others.

Minisha Lamba was born in the New Delhi-based Punjabi speaking Sikh family consisting of her dad Kewal, mom Manju, and brother Karan. She had not really decided to act in films, her goal was to become a Journalist, but she loved modeling and was fortunate enough to be selected to model for Cadbury. Clearly her intent was to complete her education, concentrate on an academic career and do some modeling on the side. She was successful in completing her schooling from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as well as from Srinagar's Army School, and then majored in English with Honors in 2004 from Delhi University affiliate Miranda House.

 

She got her first break unexpectedly, when she was auditioning for a Cadbury commercial in Delhi. Bollywood Director, Shoojit Sircar, approached her and signed her to to act "Yahaan (2005)'. She has subsequently changed her first name to Minissha.

 

Since the movie was successful in launching her career as an actress, she re-located to Mumbai and has starred in over a dozen movies. Some of the more popular ones include: Corporate, Heyy Babyy, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Well Done Abba.
