Sharman Joshi is an Indian film and theatre actor. He has worked on various stage productions in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati languages. However, he is mostly known for his work in Hindi films. He made his acting debut in Godmother.Sharman Joshi comes from a long line of theatre people. His father and mother had extremely prominent careers in Gujarati cinema.
He is the brother of Mansi Joshi and brother-in-law of Rohit Roy who are both prominent television actors.He is married to Prerna, who is the daughter of the well known actor Prem Chopra.Sharman Joshi is an Indian actor who has appeared in plays as well as movies. He made his film debut in Godmother with Shabana Azmi and won rave reviews for his portrayal as the protagonist's troubled son.
He subsequently appeared in the 2001 box office hit Style which was shortly followed by Excuse Me. Sharman has acted in English, Hindi and Gujarati stage productions and his most commercially successful and critically acclaimed movie to date in the 2006 hit – Rang De Basanti with Aamir Khan.He made his film debut in the 1999 art film, Godmother.This was followed by Style (2001), produced by N Chandra. Style was followed with a sequel called Xcuse Me (2003), and other comedies like Shaadi No. 1 (2005).In 2006 he starred in Rang De Basanti. Later that year he starred in the comedy film Golmaal. In 2007 he appeared in the films Life in a Metro, Dhol and Raqeeb. The following year saw him as the character Shyam in Hello, the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel One Night @ the Call Center.Joshi also played the male lead in the film Sorry Bhai! in 2008 and one of the three characters in the 2009 film, 3 Idiots, which was based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone.In year 2009 he also hosted a game show at Real T.V. called PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha, which was based on a British game show called PokerFace.
Sharman Joshi is married to Prem Chopra’s daughter, Prerana Chopra. They have a daughter called Khyana and twin boys, Vihaan and Vaaryan. Khyana was born in the month of October in the year 2005 while both Vihaan and Vaaryan were born in July, 2009.Sharman Joshi, the Indian actor was born on the 28th of April in the year 1979 at Mumbai, India. He belongs to a family enriched with the art of acting. Arvind Joshi, his father is an experienced personality in the Gujarati theatre. Mansi Joshi, his sister has also made her appearance in various televisual series. She is married to the actor, Ronit Roy. He had been involved in numerous stage productions in Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

Sharman Joshi had appeared in ‘All the Best’, which is a Gujarati version of a popular play. He played a deaf role in this play and this play did about 550 shows in a period of three years.In the year 1999, Sharman Joshi made his acting debut in Vinay Shukla’s ‘Godmother’ starring Shabana Azmi, Nirmal Pandey and Milind Gunaji. He followed this up with N. Chandra’s ‘Style’ (2001) starring Sharman Joshi himself along with Shilpi Mudgal, Riya Sen and Sahil Khan. Next up he did a sequel to ‘Style’ called ‘Xcuse Me’ (2003) starring Sahil Khan, Jaya Seal and Sonali Joshi. Two years later he appeared in David Dhawan’s ‘Shaadi No. 1’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Aarti Chhabra, Riya Sen, Sophia Chaudhary, Ayesha Takia, Soha Ali Khan, Esha Deol, Zayed Khan and Fardeen Khan.Next year in 2006, he acted in Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s drama flick ‘Rang De Basanti’ starring Alice Patten, Atul Kulkarni, Kunal Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Waheeda Rehman, Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth Narayan and Aamir Khan. This film was released on the 26th of January, 2006 and it was nominated at the 2006 BAFTA Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film category. Next up he starred in Rohit Shetty’s comedy flick ‘Golmaal’ starring Rimi Sen, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor, Ajay Devgan and Arshad Warsi. In 2007 he acted in ‘Raqeeb’, ‘Dhol’ and ‘Life In A Metro’. He had also appeared in 2008 film ‘Hello’ directed by Atul Agnihotri. Another film which he did that very year was ‘Sorry Bhai!’ directed by Oni. ‘Hello’ is a film adaptation of the famous novel of writer Chetan Bhagat called ‘One Night @ The Call Center’. Next year he appeared in another film adaption of Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Five Point Someone’. This film was ‘3 Idiots’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, R. Madhavan, Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, Omi Vaidya, Boman Irani and Parikshit Sahni. In 2012 he acted in Rajesh Mapuskar’s Hindi sports comedy, ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ starring Ritvik Sahore and Boman Irani. The same year he also appeared on screen in the Ajai Sinha directed Hindi romantic comedy ‘3 Bachelors’ starring Himani Shivpuri, Riya Sen, Raima Sen, Manoj Pahwa, Manish Nagpal and Negar Khan.One of his latest films is ‘War Chhod Na Yaar’ directed by Faraz Haider. This is India’s very first war comedy flick starring Dalip Tahil, Mukul Dev, Sanjai Mishra, Jaaved Jaaferi and Soha Ali Khan. This film was released on the 11th of October 2013 and in the film Sharman Joshi plays the role of Captain Rajveer Singh Rana belonging to the Indian Army.In 2009 Sharman Joshi hosted ‘PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha’ a game show on Real TV. His father , sister and cousins hold prominent careers in Gujarati theater. His sister, Mansi Joshi stars in many television serials. His sister is married to TV host and actor Rohit Roy who is the brother of TV actor Ronit Roy. Sharman is married to Prerna Chopra, daughter of veteran actor Prem Chopra.he couple have a baby girl, Khyana, born on 12 October 2005. They were blessed with the birth of twin baby boys, Rehan and Varryan, in July 2009. Sharman did his MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi.He made his film debut in the 1999 art film Godmother and received rave reviews for his portrayal of the title protagonist's troubled son.This was followed by Style (2001), which was a comedy and a surprise commercial hit. It was a low budget project produced by N Chandra involving a cast of newcomers. The movie was set in a college following the antics of a couple of students. Sharman's comic timing and performance was generally lauded and was considered the main reason for the success of the movie. The success of Style was followed with a sequel called Xcuse Me (2003), borrowing its name from the hit song of the first film, and other comedies like Shaadi No. 1 (2005).The 2006 critically acclaimed film Rang De Basanti brought him favourable reviews, both for his comic and emotional segments in the movie and considered to be his breakthrough role. Later that year he starred in the comedy film Golmaal which was a moderate box office success. In 2007 he appeared in the multi-starrer film Life in a Metro which was a success at the box office and the multi-starrer comedy Dhol which did moderately well.The following year saw him as the character Shyam in Hello, the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel One Night @ the Call Center. While the movie had a good opening week at the box office, it received mixed to negative reviews from critics. Sharman also played the lead male role of Siddharth in the film Sorry Bhai! in 2008, which did not do well at the box office.Sharman played a major role in the multi-starrer Three Idiots with Aamir Khan and Madhavan, which is loosely inspired by yet another Chetan Bhagat novel, Five Point Someone and also is his most successful movie to date. He is also set to star in the movies Toh Baat Paki and Allah Ke Banday that year.
