Lara Dutta Bhupathi is an Indian film actress and was also crowned as Miss Universe 2000.She was born on 16 April 1978 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. She has completed her education in Delhi. She has completed her schooling from St.Francis Xavier Girls High School and the Frank Anthony Public School. She was graduated with a degree in economics and a minor in communications from the University of Mumbai. She is good at English and Hindi but can speak Punjabi, Kannada and French as well. She has won the annual Gladrags Megamodel competition in her native India in 1995. She took her first place in Miss Intercontinental Pageant and later was crowned Femina Miss India Universe in 2000.  She made her acting debut with 2003 film Andaaz, for which she has won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award & Screen Best Female Debut Award. Lara was appeared in several commercially successful films like Masti, No Entry, Kaal, Bhagam Bhag, Partner, Housefull, Chalo Dilli, Singh is Bling. Now she will be seen in Bollywood flick Fitoor.She tied the knot with the renowned Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupati on the 16th of February, 2011 at Bandra in a civil ceremony. Four days later on the 20th of February, 2011, they had a Christian ceremony regarding the same at Sunset Point located in Goa. Next year, on the 20th of January, she gave birth to a baby girl whom she named Saira.Lara  has got her first break with a Tamil film, Arasatchi in 2002. She made her Hindi debut in 2003 with the film Andaaz which was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. For her film Dosti: Friends Forever, she has got much acclaim. In 2008, Dutta lent her voice for the animated film, Jumbo. She has turned as producer for her 2011 film Chalo Dilli.
She was born to a Punjabi father and an Anglo-Indian mother. Her father is Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (retired) and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. She has two elder sisters Sabrina, who serves in the Indian Air Force and younger sister Cheryl. Composer and DJ Nitin Sawhney is her cousin.
She made her Hindi debut in 2003 with the film Andaaz which was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. 
Her box office hit successes include a series of comedies Masti (2004), No Entry (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Partner (2007) and Housefull (2010). Her recent film Don 2 (2011) is a major commercial success in the domestic and international markets. 
She won the annual Gladrags modeling competition in her native India, thus winning the right to be the first Indian representative at the 1997 Miss Intercontinental, in which she took first place.
At Miss Universe 2000 in Cyprus, she achieved the highest score in the swimsuit competition and her finalist interview score was the highest individual score in any category in the history of the Miss Universe contest, as her interview saw a majority of the judges giving her the maximum 9.99 mark. 
After her final question, in which she delivered a defense of the Miss Universe contest (and other beauty pageants), she became the second Indian Miss Universe. Dutta's win led to her appointment as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.  
She is also a part of the hit comedy Bhagam Bhag.At the beginning of this year she starred in Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.Her film, Partner, was a runaway hit. 
Her 2010 release Housefull was a Super hit across India. The movie starred Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Riteish Deshmukh. It was the 5th biggest hit in the country with Rs 114 Crores of gross revenue .She played the role of Hetal Petal, one of the main characters in the movie.
