Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr.  known as Jr. NTR  is an Indian film actor, known for his work in Telugu cinema. He is an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer.He was born May 20, 1983. He is a grandson of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who was an actor, founder of the Telugu Desam Party, statesman, and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of Harikrishna and Shalini. Called Tarak by his family, friends and close associates; he later changed his name to Taraka Rama Rao in honor of his grandfather.
He was one of the most popular actors that has ever graced the South Indian film industry. He had been  mostly involved Telugu films but he has also involved in popular Tamil and Kannada ventures during the second half of his film career. He portrayed lead roles and negative characters with equal panache and later shifted his attention to producing and directing films for the Telugu film industry. While his stint in Tollywood made him a legend in Andhra Pradesh, he remained equally popular among the masses even after he retired from films and became a politician. He had a very significant political career graph during which he tried his best to introduce policies for the well being of his state Andhra Pradesh.However, the tables of fortune soon turned and his family could no longer be classified as rich. It was at this time that he took up his first job as a milk delivery boy in Vijayawada. He also became the clerk of a local provisional store. He continued with his studies until he reached his twenties and was then a student of the Andhra University. He possessed a lovely voice and was often found singing to himself during his youth. But destiny had some other plans for the actor who quit his first job in the civil services of India to enter as an actor in the Telugu film industry. 

His work has been exclusively in Telugu cinema (Tollywood). He began his career as a child artist. The first movie he starred in was Brahmarshi Viswamitra, directed by N. T. R. But his full length major role was in the movie Bala Ramayanam, directed by Guna Shekar. His first film in a lead role was in the film Ninnu Chudalani which released in 2001. He achieved his breakthrough in the same year with the blockbuster film Student No. 1. He appeared in many successful films such as Aadi (2002), Simhadri (2003), Rakhi (2006), Yamadonga (2007), Brindavanam (2010), Adhurs (2010) . NTR has worked in more than twenty three films till now. Two as a child artist and twenty one as a lead actor. He has won two Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards, one Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award and three Cinema Awards. He married Narne Lakshmi Pranathi, the daughter of Narne Srinivasa Rao, the owner of the Telugu news channel Studio. He also sings 3 songs as a singer.
